Youth Leader Survey Results

Last week I launched my youth leader survey. I am very pleased to say over 900 youth leaders responded.

My company Ministry Pass, has seen a surge recently in interest from youth leaders so I created this survey to help us better serve your needs. What I learned, will help us produce content and resources that are the most helpful to you.

I wanted to share the results with you. If you have felt your struggles are unique, let me show you how many other youth pastors are just like you.

What is your monthly budget?

This is not really a surprise here. Most youth ministries are running on a limited budget. 77% said they run on a budget of $250 or less per month. Youth leaders are some of the most resourceful people I know. I think a big part of this is out of necessity.

What is the size of your group in weekly attendance?

I believe this is connected to the first question about budget. Most youth ministries are smaller looking to grow on a small budget. 82% of youth groups have less than 50 students in weekly attendance.

I was really happy when I saw this. One of the things we do at Ministry Pass that is a little different than most companies that offer media is we give you sermon guides to go with the media. I am often asked why we don’t give the full sermon so I will answer that here. We give you the starting point because we feel once you get going in your prep it becomes easier. The start is the hardest part.

Seeing 84% of youth pastors combining original content with other resources purchased is healthy. If you currently are writing everything yourself I would encourage you not to. Your sermons will impact them but it’s not what is most important even though it eats most of your time.

Creative Resources – Please rate how much you value graphics, games and other creative elements:

More than any other question, youth leaders valued creative elements at the top of the list. The big reason I believe is time. Excellent graphics and games can take a TON of time so you value having these. 86% gave creative elements 4 or 5 stars. I was very happy to see this as well because Ministry Pass was built to save you time.

We have been looking at expanding our youth resources for a while now so I am thrilled to say we will be offering a Youth Pastor Membership in the very near future. This will be a low cost monthly membership. Stay tuned for that.
